I've been getting up early (at least early for me) to do the exercises - hope I can make that continue - it's definitely a good thing to get it done and out of the way before kid chaos begins! Jumping is going ok - I'm jumping on my back patio for now, but I read Patrick's note about not jumping on concrete or stone, and have been thinking about alternate places to jump. Haven't tried the grass yet, but it seems that the rope would keep getting caught. You wise grandparents (Badass) and parents (Mango), any thoughts?
Have discovered a terrific but barbaric way of succeeding at the half diet. First thing in the morning, take some boiling hot coffee, put in a thermos and then take a giant sip (and forget that said coffee is boiling hot) OUCH! Bingo! Burn blisters on tongue make it much easier to resist food the rest of the day:(
Here's a shot of the 1/2 banana/chocolate chip/almond muffin I planned on eating this am. I think I ate and 1/8th or a 1/4 due to above coffee incident.
Tomorrow night (Friday) is when my husband and I usually have a huge meal to "tank up" in preparation for fasting on Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement (Saturday until sundown). That's followed by a giant break the fast meal on Saturday night. Working out in my head how to half "tank up" and then how to "half" the break fast meal when fasting is over. Will be interesting, that's for sure! Any thoughts?
Finally (I tend to ramble, can you tell?) - I don't think a day will go by this week without thinking of Eddie Murphy's "HALF" routine from Eddie Murphy Raw. "I want HALF, Eddie. I want HALF!" Please someone tell me you know what I'm talking about???
And they were only married 10 YEARS! lol
ReplyDeleteHi Sara
ReplyDeleteFirst, "Gmar Hatima Tova", and an easy fast.
To tell the truth the soreness does not get worth as you progress, the workout are harder but you also improve...it just hurts, no more no less.
For jumping rope, i do it indoors, but to protect the floor and my feet, i got myself a black plastic cusioned carpet, the kind you find in Gym, they place under the weights and equipment,

Very helpful - thanks! Trying to avoid buying too much stuff, but this might be a good purchase. Jumped again on the patio and my ankles started feeling it - and that was only 300 jumps!
ReplyDeleteG'mar Tov to you as well. Easy fast!
I had a similar incident with a piping hot jalapeno popper once... all skin on the roof of my mouth blistered. Sadly, I was in Napa Valley on a wine-tasing tour at the time...
ReplyDeleteI've been jumping on concrete too. Now that I'm a little more confident with the rope I might try inside... at first I was worried about hitting too much stuff in the house. If you try the mat, let me know if it works for you! Can't remember the Raw routine but I'll look it up!
My worst days of soreness were at the very beginning, when the bod was in shock from daily exercise. Soon enough, your muscles will understand that this is going to happen day in, day out - they won't be so sore after the fact, but you'll sure feel them DURING the workout!
ReplyDeleteIf it were me, I think I'd take a full plate of food - the amount I'd usually stuff myself with both before and after the fast - and then remove half. If you try and be sensible about taking smaller portions and THEN half of that...I don't know. Be real - tanking up is just another way of saying pigging out, right??
I have the same experience as Sarah with the soreness--not so much most of the time, but the workouts are painful when I'm doing them. Definitely give us an update in a week about the soreness.
ReplyDeleteHope the fast went well.
